Weather that means something
Nick's Weather Report is a hyper-local weather intelligence service built for North Devon — and expanding across the UK. Most weather apps tell you the temperature and the chance of rain. We go a step further: we translate raw forecasts into practical, actionable advice for the way you live and work. Instead of "14°C, 30% precipitation," you get "Hold off spraying until after midday — surface moisture won't clear before then." Instead of "wind 45 km/h," you get "Avoid the high moor roads this morning; gusts are strong enough to unsettle a loaded van."
The service is built for people whose plans, income, or safety depend on the weather: farmers and growers deciding when to spray, cut, or move livestock; holiday-let owners timing changeovers and guest communications; surfers, sailors, and motorcyclists picking the right window; tradespeople scheduling outdoor work; and event organisers who need to know whether to order the marquee. Each persona gets guidance tuned to what actually matters to them — frost risk for riders, spray windows for agriculture, tide links for coastal activities, and changeover-friendly summaries for hosts.
Nick's Weather Report is built and curated by Nick, a North Devon local who got tired of generic national forecasts that ignored the reality of life on the coast and up on the moors. Forecasts are powered by the Open-Meteo API, with a North Devon location database tuned to the microclimates that matter here. The product is run as a lean, subscription-based business with Free, Plus, and Pro tiers, so casual users get useful daily guidance while professionals and businesses can pay for deeper planning tools. Weather guidance is decision-support, not a guarantee — for safety-critical calls, always cross-check official Met Office warnings.
